Charles A. Alfano, VP of Medical Affairs, CMO

Charles A. Alfano, MD, is Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. Prior to joining St. Joseph's, he was in a private practice in Phoenix, Arizona. Once he joined the St. Joseph's team, he assumed many positions in Medical Staff Leadership culminating in being the Chief of Staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital from 2001 to 2005. Beginning in March of 2007, he assumed the role of Vice President of Medical Affairs at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center and in 2010 became the Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Alfano attended Medical School at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1970. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
