St. Joseph's Outpatient Surgery Center/Recovery Care Center's mission is to provide first-class surgical services in a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment.  We focus on offering a high quality, service-oriented alternative to a traditional hospital for your surgical procedure. In this section you will find an overview of our surgery and recovery care center, as well as information for our future patients about what to remember and expect before and after surgery.

Overview

The Outpatient Surgery Center is a free-standing center that is located adjacent to the main hospital at St. Joseph's. The address is 240 W. Thomas.  The Surgery Center opened in September 2003 and the Recovery Center opened in January 2005.The hours of operation are Monday  to Friday, from 6:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. There are more than 400 physicians are on staff, and they perform more than 8,000 surgical cases per year.

There are nine operating rooms, one procedure room and six recovery-care center beds. The Recovery Center accommodates patients needing 24-72 hours to recover from their surgical procedures. Full language translation services available (including sign language). Our state-of-the-art equipment allows surgeons to perform procedures in the specialty areas of:  General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, Urology, Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat) Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, Dental, Plastic surgery, Podiatric surgery, Pain Management procedures.

The Outpatient Surgery Center also provides special services to children. All of the nurses are Pediatric-Certified. Specialty Pediatric Anesthesiologists are on staff . Separate Pediatric waiting area with 'kid friendly' furnishings and toys Pediatric Specialties and Procedures include:

•  General Surgery: Hernia, Removal of Foreign Objects
•  Orthopedic: fractures, addressing extra digits
•  Ear, Nose and Throat: Ear Tubes, Tonsil & Adenoids, Cochlear Implants
•  Urology: Circumcisions, Torsions
• Ophthalmology: Cataracts; Corneal Repair; Eye Muscle Repair
• Dental: Extractions under anesthesia
• Plastics: Scar Revision; Otoplasty

Desert Ridge Surgery Center 
This Surgery Center is another joint venture with United Surgical Partners International, CHW and local physicians. Location: Tatum Blvd and Highway 101in northeast Phoenix, just west of Desert Ridge Mall
