We understand the many questions and concerns of expectant and new parents. Our commitment to education ensures that our patients and their families are well-informed about their health and healthcare options. We offer a complete series of education programs and services designed to prepare parents for childbirth and parenting.

Boot Camp for New Dads
This unique 3-hour workshop is for guys only (no girls over two feet allowed!). You will hear what it is like to be a new dad from the facilitator and veteran dads. Also you will be able to ask your own questions about the changes ahead and get hands on experience with the veterans’ young babies. The fee for the class is $20. Scholarships are available.
Childbirth Preparation
St. Joseph's offers educational classes for you and your coach to help prepare you emotionally, psychologically, intellectually and physically for the birth of your child. Classes are taught in English and Spanish and consist of either a 1 day class or a 4 week class. You should register for these classes by your fifth month of pregnancy. Advance registration is required.
Children are Priceless Passengers
When properly installed and used, child safety seats greatly reduce the risk of injury for infants, toddlers and young children. Yet, 90% of seats are improperly installed. Come and learn how to install your child's seat the right way to ensure your child's safe transportation. This class is perfect for expectant and experienced parents as well as other child care givers. The fee for the class is $25. Advance registration is required.
Breastfeeding Classes
This class is designed to support and educate expectant mothers about breastfeeding and its advantages. During the course, expectant mothers learn about anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding, baby's cues for hunger, basic breastfeeding techniques, and working through the difficulties of breastfeeding. The fee for the class is $25. Advance registration is required.
Birthing Facility Tours
We invite you to tour our birthing facilities during your sixth month of pregnancy. No registration is required for tours. The maternity tours are held on the first and third Sunday of each month in conference room 2 (just off the cafeteria patio on the first floor) at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. For more information call 602-406-3521.
