- Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) is an alternative to radical abdominal surgery for the removal of polyps and early stage cancer. TEM is a minimally invasive procedure that allows the removal of lesions in hard-to-reach areas that typically require major surgery. Patients who undergo TEM have fewer complications, no incisions or pain and recover more quickly than those undergoing the traditional surgical methods. The procedure is used to treat patients of all ages with rectal polyps or cancer. A patient’s initial recovery is typically one day and most patients are back to their regular activities within days of the surgery.
- Minimally-invasive laparoscopic surgery can be performed for many abdominal cancers.
- Image-guided cancer surgery and state-of-the-art sentinel lymph node biopsy are also performed for different types of cancer.
