St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is the first hospital in Arizona to offer prostate cancer patients breakthrough radiosurgery with CyberKnife. These treatments for early stage cancer are being conducted as part of a clinical trial. The CyberKnife is a state-of-the-art robotic system used to perform non-invasive tumor treatment.

At 24-years-old, Shannon Harris is one of the youngest women in the nation to have undergone a preventative double mastectomy after testing positive with a gene that increases the risk of developing breast cancer.

St. Joseph's has partnered with Castle Biosciences, Inc. to provide the nation's first genomics-based test for patients suffering from glioblastoma multiforme, the most deadly form of primary brain cancer.

Valley Teen Battling Cancer Captures Dream Opportunity
Jennifer Marlowe’s dream of becoming a photographer is about to come true despite her fight with cancer. The Valley teen will receive professional photography lessons in Colorado next week thanks in part to staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and a photography company based in Littleton.

The Comprehensive Cancer Center at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is offering genetic risk assessments to Valley residents who have cancer or a family history of cancer. The initial consultation is free and a physician referral is not required. The risk assessments currently focus on breast, ovarian, colorectal and melanoma cancers.

The Comprehensive Cancer Center at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is offering outpatient nutrition education for Valley residents with cancer. Participation in the program is free and a physician referral is not required.

St. Joseph's Comprehensive Cancer Center Receives Accreditation from the Commission on Cancer
The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) has granted a three-year approval with commendation to the Comprehensive Cancer Center at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. St. Joseph's received CoC approval for its commendable level of compliance with one or more standards that represent the full scope of the hospital's cancer program.
