Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition


The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition serves infants, children and adolescents up to age 18. Comprehensive outpatient and inpatient services are available for evaluation, diagnosis and management of routine and complex gastroenterologic disorders. The division staff is dedicated to providing professional and compassionate care to parents and children, educating families on disease processes and treatment options, and encouraging communication between parents, referring physicians and St. Joseph’s staff.

Symptoms treated include:

  • Vomiting
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Failure to thrive
  • Swallowing difficulty
  • GI bleeding
  • Constipation and fecal soiling

Specific illness evaluated and managed include:

  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Gastroesophageal reflux
  • Gastritis
  • Peptic ulcer disease
  • Colonic polyps
  • Infectious diarrhea
  • Eosinophilic esophagitis
  • Foreign body ingestions
  • Lactose intolerance
  • Pancreatitis
  • Hepatitis
  • Cholestastic liver disease
