St. Joseph's Outpatient Surgery Center/Recovery Care Center's mission is to provide first-class surgical services in a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment. We focus on offering a high quality, service-oriented alternative to a traditional hospital for your surgical procedure.
The Outpatient Surgery Center is a free-standing center that is located adjacent to the main hospital at St. Joseph's. The address is 240 W. Thomas. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday, from 6:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. There are more than 400 physicians on staff, and they perform more than 8,000 surgical cases per year.
There are nine operating rooms, one procedure room and six recovery-care center beds. The Recovery Center accommodates patients needing 24-72 hours to recover from their surgical procedures. Full language translation services are available (including sign language). Our state-of-the-art equipment allows surgeons to perform procedures in the specialty areas of: General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, Urology, Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat), Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, Dental, Plastic Surgery, Podiatric Surgery, and Pain Management procedures.
Special Services for Children
The Outpatient Surgery Center also provides special services to children. The Center has a full staff of healthcare professionals trained to anticipate your needs during your surgical procedure. The nurses are Pediatric trained. Specialty Pediatric Anesthesiologists are present for procedures requiring sedation or anesthesia. The Outpatient Surgery Center is staffed with Child Life specialists who will assess the developmental level of each child and work with them to prepare them for surgery.
Pediatric Specialties and Procedures include:
- General Surgery: hernia, removal of foreign objects
- Orthopedic: fractures, addressing extra digits
- Ear, Nose and Throat: ear tubes, tonsil and adenoids
- Urology: circumcisions, torsions
- Ophthalmology: cataracts, corneal repair, eye muscle repair
- Dental: extractions under anesthesia
- Plastics: scar revisions, otoplasty
Outpatient Services provides outpatient infusions for pediatric patients who require chemo, enzyme replacement therapy, transfusions antibiotics and HGH tests.
