The Division of Advanced Surgery and Pelvic Pain is dedicated to female pelvic pain and advanced gynecologic surgery. Dr. Michael Hibner and Dr. Nita Desai are fellowship trained advanced gynecologic surgeons who specialize in diagnosis and treatment of all conditions leading to female chronic pelvic pain. As advanced pelvic surgeons, they perform all gynecologic procedures using micro-invasive approach such as laparosopy or vaginal surgery. Those routes greatly shorten postoperative recovery, decrease pain, and improve cosmetic outcomes.
A surgical procedure is possibly one of the more stressful events in anyone’s life. Choosing the surgeon and the hospital to have surgery may be quite difficult, especially when there are so many hospitals and well trained physicians to choose from. The Division of Advanced Pelvic Surgery specializes in advanced and complicated surgical procedures. Our institution is one of only three in United States that perform surgical decompression of injured pudendal nerve, and patients from all over North America come to St. Joseph’s to have this surgery done. We are also one of the very few institutions in the country to perform laparoscopic Vecchietti procedure.

Teaching Tomorrow's Doctors
We are also a fellowship training site for minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Our fellowship is one of eighteen fellowships accredited by American Academy of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. When you choose to have surgery in our practice, you are choosing to have it done by a surgeon who not only dedicates their practice solely to pelvic surgery, but by one who has trained many gynecologic surgeons.
