The St. Joseph’s Lung Transplant Support Group meeting is held on the second Tuesday of every month from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Mercy Conference Room at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. The meetings are facilitated by a clinical transplant social worker. The group is open to patients who have been transplanted, on the waiting list for a donor, or in the transplant evaluation process, and their family members and friends. The purpose of the group is to provide patients the opportunity to meet other transplant candidates and recipients and to share their experiences with one another. Issues often discussed are: preparing for surgery, coping with feelings and uncertainty surrounding transplantation, medications and insurance issues. Sometimes speakers are scheduled to address various topics of interest to transplant patients and their family members. Meeting announcements are mailed out each month as a reminder.
If you would like to receive support group announcements or would like more information, please contact our transplant social worker, Kathy Lam, LCSW at 602-406-7009 or email klam@chw.edu. There is no fee for attending the support group.
