Brian J. deGuzman, MD


  

Brian J. deGuzman, MD, is the Associate Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery, Surgical Director of the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit and the Director of the Atrial Fibrillation Clinic at The Heart & Lung Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. He is board certified in both general and thoracic surgery.

Dr. deGuzman expertise includes innovative techniques in cardiac surgery including off-pump coronary artery bypass, all arterial bypass procedures, valve repair surgery, surgery for atrial fibrillation, endoscopic vessel harvest and rigid sternal fixation. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, 21st Century Cardiac Surgery Society, and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Dr. deGuzman received his medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington DC. He then completed his general surgery residency at University of Connecticut and his cardiothoracic training at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women's Hospital. He spent an additional year of advanced training in complex valve and atrial fibrillation surgery at The Cleveland Clinic.
