The Adult Gastrointestinal (GI) Department at St. Joseph’s offers a full range of services to diagnose, treat and manage all digestive problems including esophageal, gastric, small intestine, colonic, rectal, liver, biliary tract and pancreatic disorders in both an inpatient and outpatient setting.
GI Services and Treatments
In addition to general GI services such as screening colonoscopy for colorectal cancer, the department provides multiple advanced therapies including Endoscopic Ultrasound, Endoscopic Ultrasound with fine needle aspiration and therapeutic Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). A unique and minimally invasive procedure, Endoscopc Ultrasoumd combines endoscopy and ultrasound in order to obtain images and information about the digestive tract and the surrounding tissue and organs. Endoscopic Ultrasound provides detailed, cost-effective, non-surgical assessment of many digestive diseases.
The GI Department also offers a variety of subspecialty services and treatments for disorders that include:
- Pancreaticobiliary tumors/malignancies
- Pancreatic cysts
- Cancers- esophagus, gastric, rectal, pancreatic
- Dysphagia, malnutrition
- Hepatobiliary disease in pregnancy
