Pediatric Pre-Operative and Outpatient Unit
The Pediatric Pre-Operative and Outpatient Unit is committed to providing pediatric patients and their family with caring and quality service to ensure the utmost positive experience. The staff recognizes the importance of developmentally appropriate interventions for children. The Pediatric Pre-Operative and Outpatient Unit has 8 beds and is dedicated to preparing pediatric patients for surgery, infusions and special medical procedures. To learn more, click here.
Outpatient Surgery & Recovery Care
St. Joseph's Outpatient Surgery Center/Recovery Care Center's mission is to provide first-class surgical services in a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment. The Center has a full staff of healthcare professionals trained to anticipate your needs during your surgical procedure. The Outpatient Surgery Center is an affiliate of United Surgical Partners International, an international surgery company partnered with local physicians and Catholic Healthcare West.
Overview
The Outpatient Surgery Center is a free-standing center that is located adjacent to St. Joseph's Hospital. The address is 240 W. Thomas, Phoenix AZ 85013. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. There are more than 400 physicians on staff, and they perform more than 8,000 surgical cases per year.
There are nine operating rooms, one procedure room and six recovery-care center beds. The Recovery Center accommodates patients needing 24-72 hours to recover from their surgical procedures. Full language translation services available (including sign language). Our state-of-the-art equipment allows surgeons to perform procedures in the specialty areas of:
- Dental
- Gastroenterology
- General Surgery
- Gynecology
- Ophthalmology
- Orthopedics
- Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat)
- Pain Management procedures
- Plastic surgery
- Podiatric surgery

Special Services for Children
The Outpatient Surgery Center also provides special services to children. All of the nurses are pediatric certified and pediatric anesthesiologists are on staff. Separate pediatric waiting area with 'kid friendly' furnishings and toys are available as well. Pediatric Specialties and Procedures include:
- Dental: Extractions under anesthesia
- Ear, Nose and Throat: Ear Tubes, Tonsil & Adenoids, Cochlear Implants
- General Surgery: Hernia, Removal of Foreign Objects
- Ophthalmology: Cataracts; Corneal Repair; Eye Muscle Repair
- Orthopedic: fractures, addressing extra digits
- Plastics: Scar Revision; Otoplasty
- Urology: Circumcisions, Torsions
Desert Ridge Surgery Center
The Desert Ridge Surgery Center is a joint venture with United Surgical Partners International, CHW and local physicians. It is located at Tatum Blvd and Highway 101 in northeast Phoenix, just west of Desert Ridge Mall
Features four operating rooms, one gastroenterology suite and one pain management room.
