The Department of Academic Affairs
Our Mission

Medical Education now called “Academic Affairs” began in 1936 with our first Intern class held at St. Joseph’s Hospital. It was the first AMA recognized internship in the State of Arizona.The mission of the Department of Academic Affairs is to direct and oversee the education of young physicians by teaching and promoting the wholeness and the dignity of the human person. The department’s residency training programs foster a climate of collaboration and mutual support and develop a personal values-driven spirit of caring in the healing process.
