The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program is a fully accredited four-year postgraduate training experience that combines the advantages of a private practice training program with high quality teaching in an academic environment. Most of the faculty radiologists have come to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center from academic positions from nationally recognized teaching institutions and have additional training and expertise in all radiology subspecialty areas.
Each year four positions are available at the PGY-2 level. First-year Internal Medicine training is offered in our Internal Medicine Residency Program. Currently there are 18 residents in our program. The academic structure of our program is based on a rich and diverse clinical patient experience with a curriculum designed for the individual resident's needs and a balance between primary and tertiary care experiences.
The majority of the resident's training is spent at St. Joseph's with the exception of one month rotations in mammography and MRI at Breastnet and Biltmore outpatient imaging facilities and will be exposed to pure outpatient imaging including ultrasound, mammography, MRI, fluoroscopy and breast biopsy (U/S and stereotactic-guided). Residents are also given the opportunity to observe in the office of Phoenix Perinatal Associates for a two-week rotation with Dr. Harris Finberg in focused high-risk obstetric ultrasound.
