Pediatric Residency Program

Dear Residency Applicant and Medical Students,

Please note that after June 30, 2011 we will no longer have our pediatric residency program here at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Due to the recent merger with Phoenix Children’s Hospital, the bulk of our Pediatric services have moved to that facility. We will still maintain an outpatient pediatrics clinic treating all ages, the NICU and our nursery. In addition, our Adolescent Medicine program will stay here at St. Joe’s and the hospital ED will still accept patients of all ages.

Our residents will be absorbed into the Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center (PCH/MMC) Pediatric Residency Program. Our pediatric services will still receive rotating residents from the PCH/MMC program as well as Family Practice residents from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Phoenix Baptist Hospital.

  • Third-year medical students from Creighton University and the University of Arizona will continue to rotate to these areas.
  • Fourth-year medical student from these facilities will have priority with regards to our limited 4th-year electives which will include a NICU rotation; however, MSIVs from other schools can still apply for these electives on a space available basis.

Please contact Joyce Ortego, Pediatric Program Coordinator, at 602-406-4524 for any additional information you may need. Thank you.
