St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is proud to invite the physicians of tomorrow to learn from the finest physicians today. Fourth year medical students are eligible to apply for rotations to the Department of Neurosurgery which take place in September, October and November only. This elective exposes the senior medical student to a full spectrum of clinical neurosurgery-trauma, cerebrovascular, spine, neoplastic, and pediatrics. Academic activities are an integral part of the program with active participation in regular conferences of neuroradiology, neuropathology, adult and pediatric neurology. The senior student is assigned to the clinical neurological surgery service with a second-year neurosurgery resident. The student is expected to function as a full team member and is evaluated by BNI faculty and the Chief Neurosurgery Resident.
